Sleepy After Eating? Don’t Ignore Your Pancreas

She thought it was just normal.

Every evening, after dinner, she would sit on the sofa “just for a moment”…

and then her eyes would close.

Not because she was lazy. Not because she didn’t sleep enough.

But because something in her body simply… switched off.

At first, she blamed the food. “Maybe I ate too much.” “Maybe it’s just a long day.”

So she tried eating less. Healthier. Lighter.

But it didn’t change.

No matter what she ate, that same wave would come…

heavy eyes slow thoughts a deep, quiet exhaustion

It felt strange.

“How can I feel so tired… right after eating?”

What she didn’t realise was, her body was struggling to use the energy from the food.

After every meal, her blood sugar would rise, her pancreas would try to respond…

but the energy never quite reached where it was needed.

So instead of feeling nourished, she felt drained.

Over time, this kind of pattern can be linked to blood sugar imbalance, and sometimes even conditions like Type 2 Diabetes.

But the story doesn’t stop at the physical level.

From a German New Medicine perspective, the pancreas often reflects something deeper.

A quiet resistance.

Something in life she could not fully accept.

A situation she didn’t agree with… but felt she had no choice but to live with.

Maybe it sounded like:

“I don’t want this… but I have no choice.”

“I cannot accept this… but I must live with it.”

Or perhaps more quietly:

“I’ll just accept it… even though it doesn’t feel right.”

“There’s nothing I can do… I just have to swallow it.”

She never said it out loud.

She just carried it. Day after day.

And just like that… her body began to “struggle to process”

— not only food, but also that unspoken weight.

So each time she ate, her body slowed her down.

Not to punish her.

But perhaps to say:

“There is something here… that needs your attention.”

If this feels familiar to you, maybe it is not just about the food.

Maybe your body is gently asking:

What am I still trying to accept… but haven’t been able to?

In homeopathy, we don’t simply try to “fix” the tiredness.

We try to understand

why the body responds this way in the first place.

A carefully selected remedy can gently support the system to:

  • regulate energy more smoothly

  • improve how the body responds after food

  • and most importantly, help the person process what has been held inside

So the body no longer needs to “shut down” after every meal.

If this feels familiar to you,

maybe it is not just about the food.

Maybe your body is gently asking:

What am I still trying to accept…

but haven’t been able to?

And maybe… it’s time to listen.
